Less than 19 days after starting Chemotherapy Romy’s hair has started to fall out. The chemotherapy attacks rapidly dividing cells throughout the body, so as well as targeting the cancer cells, hair cells are also affected. I like to think of the hair loss as a visual reminder of what is hopefully happening on the inside to the cancer cells. Romy has never had her hair cut, it took a long time to grow as her hair grew slowly as a toddler and she has been desperate for it to grow long for most of her little life, however she is very accepting of the fact she will lose it now.
