Romy has been putting together her beads. This is an idea by Beads Of Courage UK to support the mental health and well being of seriously ill children. Romy gets a bead for each bit of treatment received and she puts this onto her string. There is a different design of bead for each treatment/procedure/overnight stay in hospital etc. and these are placed onto the string in order, so it’s a good way of visualizing everything that Romy has been through. When she first started doing this I imagined something bracelet sized, then maybe a necklace, now I realise that by the end of treatment it will be a few metres tall. The two hearts at the beginning of the bead string represent loved ones supporting you on your journey. Romy chose a blue one to represent Daddy and a clear one for Mummy.
