On the way to London for Radiotherapy we were able to take our first trip anywhere, to Wales for a family wedding. This was the first time we had been more than a stones throw from a hospital so it was a little nerve wracking, but our team in Southampton had contacted the nearest hospital with an oncology department in Cardiff to warn them that we were in the area, and we had the nearest hospital and the Cardiff hospital programmed into our sat nav in case. It was also hard work packing not just for the wedding but for our trip to London which would follow straight on from the wedding weekend, including all of the medicines, bottles of feed and syringes we would need. Once we finally had the car packed we set off, breaking up the journey with a brief stop at a playground. This wedding was the first time properly seeing family in nearly a year, and the first time seeing a large group of people, so quite overwhelming for all of us. We kept a low profile at the wedding but we were seated on the end of a table in the conservatory right near a door which was perfect to keep away from the crowd and duck in and out, and luckily the late summer/early Autumn weather was perfect to be outside. Zephyr in particular enjoyed a spell of dancing in the evening and later pointed out the ‘princess’ (bride) that she had danced with in photos, and both Zephyr and Romy enjoyed the confetti. For Romy however, with her maternal nature, the highlight was meeting her newest cousin, baby Caitlyn. She spent a lot of the two days trying to locate Caitlyn around the venue and was allowed to feed her a bottle and did a brilliant job of entertaining her in the nurturing way only Romy can (cooing, singing and talking to her). Before we knew it we were saying goodbye again to drive straight to London ready for Radiotherapy to commence. Â
