Stem Cell Harvest Take Two

Romy was admitted back to the ward on Sunday ready to have a vascath inserted again for her second stem cell harvest.  After three days of being nil by mouth all morning and waiting to hear if we were going down to have the vascath placed, each morning her levels were predicted to be too low to harvest.  Thankfully she wasn’t taken to surgery to have the vascath inserted needlessly, but after three mornings it was disappointing that the second stem cell harvest had to be completely abandoned.   I thought that Romy would be glad not to have had the vascath, but she was disappointed as she knows we will have to try again another time and she was hoping to get it done out the way.   She was due to have her third cycle of the new chemotherapy so after this brief hiccup delaying things we hope to resume the chemo next week.
