Romy misses going to shops, she misses something as mundane as going to Waitrose to do the weekly food shop, but high dose chemo has left her so vulnerable to simple infections that could be very serious or even fatal, so we have avoided taking her to any shops for a long time. She was desperate to spend her tooth fairy money and some money her grandparents and great grandparent had given her, so we asked her consultant if it might be ok for her to visit a shop. He suggested that it would be fine if we timed it so that we were visiting a larger toyshop with more space and chose a quiet time, especially if Romy wore a mask. Romy and Zephyr were both so excited to visit the Smyths Toys superstore, where they discovered not just toys from floor to ceiling on two levels, but escalators too! After two visits to each floor and multiple visits to each aisle Romy chose a penguin and a Rapunzel doll and Zephyr changed her mind lots of times before settling on some Night Garden figures.
