Romy’s 5th Birthday, not the way we were expecting to spend her 5th Birthday but she managed a smile. This wooden cake was bought for Zephyr’s first birthday at the end of the summer and Romy was delighted at the time when she realised it came with candles and numbers up to 5, so she would just get one turn of using the cake.
Our friend Alexa offered to arrange a real cake to be made and delivered to us too, so a week or so before her birthday I asked Romy what type of cake she would like. She said a snowman cake (I had made a snowman cake for her 4th Birthday last year!) I told her it wouldn’t be the same as the snowman cake she had last year as it wouldn’t be made by me, so while she could have a snowman cake but I wanted to warn her it would be a bit different. We settled on an olaf cake so it would be a snowman but a bit different to last year. A lovely cake lady called Julie delivered the amazing Olaf cake free of charge and we were able to share it with the nurses and left some in the parents kitchen for other patients or parents on the ward to help themselves. Romy didn’t fancy any cake in the end but she enjoyed seeing it.
