Romy was injected with two lots of radioactive dye from nuclear medicine. First for a kidney function test and then later she was injected with some more black radioactive dye for an MIBG scan the following day. The tumour cells suck up the dye so this scan could help reveal anywhere the cancer has spread to.
Romy kept perfectly still for the first 50 minute scan, after 10 minutes she asked me if she could blink as she was finding it really hard not to blink. There was a DVD player with a screen above the scanner to help little ones keep still and Romy had chosen Moana to watch. She sang along to the Moana songs she was watching. She fell asleep for the second 50 minute scan in a different room, and stayed asleep for a short but noisy CT scan immediately after.
