Romy was super keen to start ballet again which first meant visiting her Teacher at home to get some new ballet shoes that fitted.  Both Romy and Zephyr loved trying on some special tutu’s that caught their eye in the costume storage.  Romy had started ballet when she was two and had ended up joining the reception class when she was still a preschooler.  She can still remember being on the stage as a mini moana with the other Reception age children despite only being a preschooler, and I was so proud to watch her perform on stage as the only 3 year old.  There are so few things she remembers from Guernsey before her diagnosis, in fact she struggles to remember anything about school, but being on the stage is something that has obviously stuck in her mind.  It was no surprise therefore, that she went straight into ballet lessons again without even glancing back, despite having a different teacher and cohort of children in the class, and despite not having done anything independently since before leaving Guernsey.  Romy’s surgery left one of her legs a little bit week due to some nerves that run to her leg being effected.  It took her a long time to walk again properly, and she has only recently been able to hop on that leg.  Her balance has also been effected which is only noticeable now in things like ballet, but overall she is doing so well and her stamina has been impressive.  Zephyr was also very keen to start ballet, but when it came to it she didn’t want me to leave the room, so we are going to wait until she turns 3 and try again.  In the meantime she loves having lessons from Romy at home where they put on their ballet costumes and shoes and role play being the teacher and the ballet student!
