Results of scans taken at the beginning of February showed that although the primary tumour has responded to the three months of induction chemotherapy, the metastatic spots where it has spread have not changed, and in fact a new spot on Romy’s wrist has been detected (although not new, this spot was just not detected in the original scans at diagnosis) a very disappointing result which means that her disease is classed as refractory and additional treatment will be needed before we can continue with the original plan.  After a brief break while the Drs decided on the best way forward, Romy was admitted to hospital again on 21st February for her new chemotherapy.  Following 5 days of treatment and monitoring to see how she fared, Romy was discharged again and allowed to recuperate at the flat.  In contrast to the Rapid Cojec chemotherapy which was very frequent, this new treatment has a full two week break between each round, so when feeling ok she has been able to enjoy short drives and the odd visit to a playground when it has been nice and quiet.  During her second week off of chemo she has also been well enough to see her grandparents, the first time she has properly seen friends or family since her diagnosis back in November.
